Due to recent hacking and publishing of Aadhaar data of millions of user online, Government of India with a notification has prevented the use of Aadhaar online. Government has also listed out the 27 must do’s and don’t for using Aadhaar details. All these measures are taken up in order to prevent the repeat of issues like M S Dhoni aadhaar details leakage or Jharkhand data leak incidents which forced UIADI to take the such action.
Now onward, it is completely prohibited to publish any sort of personal data online through website or Public domain. Legal action will be taken against culprit especially to Government departments, Banks etc. Under the Aadhaar Act, publication of any kind of Aadhaar numbers or data of beneficiaries is illegal.
Interesting, India doesn’t have any data privacy law.
